Remember, kids: just because a business is small, local, and indie, does not mean the workers are treated with any more dignity or respect than they are at corporate stores. Shopping small and local can be great, but do your research and know who you’re supporting.

A lot of small stores actually treat their employees worse because they can get away with it. No corporate HR office or higher ups to keep them in check makes a lot of small business owners treat their employees badly because they know that no matter what the employee can either take it or quit and if they quit they still have to leave on good terms because the owner will absolutely give them a bad reference when contacted by a future employer when that job is on the employees resume.

Some “homeless” guy in a wheelchair asked for money so I gave him 10 dollars and as I drove off I saw him get up and walk.

i use a cane and i can go without it if my hip pain and balance are good enough that day, but it doesn’t mean i dont need a cane. many wheelchair users can prop themselves standing upright, or walk for short/long periods of time. in fact, it’s encouraged to lessen the risk of catalyctic shock and blood clots. even if you got “scammed,” which i highly doubt, you probably made a strangers day with 10 bucks.
