Owner of a pug: LOL I love when he makes that snorting sound! It’s so cute!

Me, internally: he makes that sound because he can’t BREATHE, Karen….

He’s a cat, but my Himalayan does this and it’s very cute and funny.  But we should not have bred animals to be like this.  He has other issues, too – a mooshed-in head on one side and no eye on that side.

[Pic: A gross-looking longhaired cat with lilac grey points. He has only one eye, which is squinched closed, and his face is tilted up happily, revealing that his teeth and jaw are seriously twisted to one side. He is adorable, but somehow unwholesome to look upon.]

This guy? Should never have happened.

He’s a rescue, I got him from a shelter and I chose him BECAUSE he is special needs.  I fully support breed-specific shelters and adopting these breeds as rescues, I support caring for animals that are already here, but I would never support the breeding of animals like him by buying from a breeder of brachycephalic animals.

No matter how cute and hilarious his mudcrab noises are.
